Fish and Chips
It’s not just fish and chips but the works! My special “triple” cooked chips and homemade tartar sauce! This is the English classic that you’re guaranteed to love!
You’ll need:
Batter
120 grams plain flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 a lager beer
Chips
Potatoes (Maris pipers are good!) and sunflower oil
Tartar sauce
Half a cup of Mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Gherkins/dill pickles (finely chopped)
1 tablespoon Dill (finely chopped)
1 tablespoon Parsley (finely chopped)
1 tablespoon Capers (finely chopped)
Sprinkling of Worcester sauce
1 teaspoon mustard
Method (Fish)
Start by combining the dry batter ingredients and mixing until smooth
When you’re ready to fry the fish, coat in the dry batter once and then add the lager and coat again in the wet batter (make sure its thoroughly coated)
Fry for about 6 minutes and until brown all over
Method (Chips)
Cut the potatoes into lengthways slices
When this is done, place the potatoes into a pot of cold water
Let the water come to a boil and cook for a further 10 minutes
Coat a tray with sunflower oil
Place the potatoes onto the tray and bake until the potatoes start to brown (ensure you flip the potatoes half way through baking)
Fill a pan with sunflower oil
Once the oil is hot, place the baked potatoes into the frying pan and cook until completely brown all over
Method (Tartar Sauce)
Combine all the ingredients listed into a bowl, mix thoroughly and place in the fridge until cool
Enjoy!
