Hi Guys,
I’m Oriana Findlay, a Zambian documentary filmmaker and travel creator with an incurable curiosity for people, places and the stories that make a destination memorable.
I was born and raised in Zambia, with British and German roots, and travel has always been a huge part of how I see the world. After living in the UK for several years and later moving to Abu Dhabi, I’ve become very comfortable with the idea that home can exist in more than one place. These days, I’m usually somewhere between planning the next trip, filming it or editing hundreds of hours of footage from the last one.
I’ve now travelled to more than 60 countries, from remote islands in the North Atlantic to Himalayan monasteries, African safari camps, tropical archipelagos and some of the world’s busiest cities. But I’m less interested in simply ticking countries off a list and much more interested in understanding what makes a place feel different. The food people grow up eating, the landscapes that shape daily life, the traditions that have survived for generations and the people you meet when you stay curious enough to ask questions.
Professionally, my path here has been anything but straightforward. I studied Religion, Politics and Sociology at university before completing a Master’s in Journalism. That eventually led me to working at London’s famous Vogue House at GLAMOUR magazine, followed by several years working across content, marketing and social media. Somewhere along the way, the travel stories I was sharing online became the work itself.
Today, my focus is filmmaking. On YouTube, I create long form, story driven destination documentaries and travel guides designed to take you deeper into a place rather than simply show you the highlights. On Instagram, I share the shorter version of that world: useful recommendations, beautiful places, hotels, food, experiences and little pieces of inspiration that might just convince you to book the trip.
A lot of what I create is filmed alongside my husband, Elliott, and together we’re constantly chasing the next story, whether that means getting on a fishing boat in the Faroe Islands, hiking through Bhutan, road tripping across Iceland or waking up somewhere completely unfamiliar.
At the heart of everything I make is a love of travel, but even more than that, a love of people and places. I want this space to feel useful, inspiring and personal. Somewhere you can discover a destination you hadn’t considered, find a hotel worth saving, plan a trip with a little more confidence or simply disappear into another part of the world for a few minutes.
